Selling a property, for whatever reason, is a busy time So much to do and so much to think about. Often when you purchase a new property is when you replace furnishings etc. and in many cases ask, "Where did all that stuff in the basement, roof space or garage come from?" Are you really going to haul it all with you and store it yet again? Perhaps you can avoid that and preserve our heritage at the same time. The New Haven Area Heritage Sharefair Project could be the opportunity you are looking for. We are offering a COMPLETELY FREE CLEARANCE SERVICE! . That really does mean COMPLETE AND FREE. The good and the bad! There are few exceptions -- garden refuse and normal household garbage being the main two. We will clear unwanted household furniture, garden furniture and tools, appliances, china, glass, bric a brac, sports items, linen, clothing, toys and games, scrap metals, etc, etc. We believe everything is restorable, re-saleable or recyclable. All items sent to a landfill is an opportunity LOST! MOVING HOUSE?? Moving Is a busy, time-consuming period for any family. Usually it means you have to sort it, clean it, pack it, etc. Then comes the moving sale/yard sale! Yet another day or more taken up when you need to do other things. Husbands hide those treasures he’s had since he was 10 years old, so the wife won’t get rid of them while he is at work. The wife on the other hand holds the yard sale also while he is at work. That way all sorts can mysteriously disappear and can always be blamed on the moving company should it (Heaven forbid) ever be missed. MOVING SALE/YARD SALE? We all do it! We go to these sale days to get items for as little as possible. In this case the home owner is often at a disadvantage. They really don’t have the time to spare, yet they sit there hoping that some good soul will come along and buy the whole lot so that they can get on with the more important jobs. For days they pray for good weather and hope they are not washed out! It all adds up to stress. You end up selling what was after all a useful and valuable item for far less than you would have hoped. However that’s the price you pay rather than packing it all up (yet again) and hauling it to the new home. A BETTER OPTION? Forget the hours and days lost with yard sales etc. Avoid the frustration of selling the items below what you feel is a fair market value. Realize that fair market value by donating to the NHAHA Sharefair Program and avoid all of the above. HELP YOURSELF WHILE HELPING US. New Haven Area Heritage Association is a Registered, not for profit 501 (c) 3 Charitable Organization. By donating any items to this cause you may claim the reasonable value of those items as a tax deduction. This gives you that value without all the stress the other options can produce. The Association has taken on a major task with the restoration of the 1895 Wabash Railroad Depot on State Street in New Haven. This includes putting the building onto a new foundation and restoring it as close as possible to the original condition. On completion, it will be become a historical focal point and rest area on the new recreational trail that runs from Fort Wayne, following the Maumee River and Trier Creek into New Haven. Our target for matching funds is $140,000. A large sum in many respects, but a small price to pay when you consider it is saving a historically significant property for future generations and giving it a new and valuable life in the community.
